Shift Description
Our Birthplace/Labor & Deliver unit is comprised of eight Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms, nine Triage/Recovery beds, and three Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum rooms. We also have two surgical delivery rooms. A total of 20 beds facilitates family centered care for low and high risk antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum mothers and newborns.

What You Will Do
Provide family centered therapeutic nursing interventions, hands on skills, family/caregiver education, goal setting, critical thinking and care planning
Collaborative team approach: Interdisciplinary team of staff including OB providers, certified nurse midwives, anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, registered nurses, lactation consultants, OB technicians, social workers, and spiritual care
Participate in precepting and mentoring students and new staff
Responsibilities
Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice
Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families

Education, Training, Experience, Certification And Licensure
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current LPN licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York
One year of clinical experience with medication administration preferred
Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise
Current BLS & CPR certifications
Pay Range
$27.85-$35.87
Work Environment And Hazards
Clinical setting. Exposure Class I Physical Demands: Medium work - must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.
