Responsibilities

  • Develops professional and clinical skills through staff development meetings, educational activities, and professional affiliations.
  • Participates in the review process and agency performance improvement program.
  • Provides patient education, medication administration, wound dressing changes, and ostomy care as directed by the RN and ordered by the physician.
  • Displays flexibility in accepting assignment changes and participates in weekend/after-hours coverage and call rotation.
  • Reports pertinent observations to the attending physician and RN, and implements changes in the patient care plan as directed.
  • Communicates changes to the appropriate members of the home health care team.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with all team members, patients, and families.
  • Maintains clinical record information in accordance with established standards and within established time frames.
  • Provides direct patient care responsibilities for assigned patients in an efficient, organized manner under the direction of the RN.
  • Performs treatments within their scope of training and administers medications to assigned patients.
  • Affects patients during clinical check-in, documents pertinent medical information and vital signs, and assesses for signs of abuse or neglect using age-specific guidelines.
  • Administers treatments, medications, and follow-up assessments ordered by the provider, verifying as needed, and responds appropriately in clinical emergencies and triage situations.
  • Performs diagnostic and occupational medicine testing, including EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus, and pulse oximetry, and complete forensic testing collections in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Collects data specific to the age of the patient and contributes to their plan of care.
  • Receives, verifies, and implements physician orders, ensuring orders taken by the LPN are co-signed by an RN.

Requirements

  • High School Grad or Equiv
  • Technical/Vocational School graduate of an accredited school of licensed practical nursing
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)
  • IV Certified (IV) [Preferred]
  • Driver's License (DL) [Preferred]

  • 1+ year of medical/surgical experience [Preferred]

Schedule

Full time, Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm / On-call weekend commitment monthly/quarterly

Coverage in NE Johnson County MO and Johnson County KS
