About the role
Maple Lawn Senior Care is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join their team. The mission is to provide high-quality healthcare, housing, and support services for seniors in a personalized, respectful, and home-like setting.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with family members about the resident’s progress.
- May assist visiting physicians during rounds.
- May draw blood and collect fluids for lab tests.
- Record and monitor resident progress and communicate with physicians.
- May assist in serving meals and feeding residents.
- Manage and oversee the work of other nursing staff to ensure thorough care.
- Use telephones to communicate with physicians, arrange transportation, and contact families.
- Make rounds to ensure cleanliness and proper care.
- Coordinate care for residents.
- Aid nursing staff as needed.
- Take and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate.
- Chart information about residents, medications, resident comments, observations, and care plans.
- Administer medications orally or by injection.
- Discuss resident progress with supervising nursing staff and document the conversation.
- Stock and prepare medication carts for rounds.
- Apply eye ointment to residents as needed.
- Handle medication orders, fill out charts, and assist residents with their requests.
- Monitor and treat skin issues as necessary.
- Administer insulin injections if required.
- Insert and irrigate Foley catheters as needed.
- Bathe, dress, and assist residents with walking.
- Instruct and supervise Nursing Assistants.
- Provide information about residents to supervising Registered Nurses.
- Follow company safety rules.
- Promptly respond to resident call lights as needed.
- Maintain a safe, homelike environment for residents.
- Transport residents as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current Minnesota licensure as a Practical Nurse.
- One or more years of nursing education.
- Ability to communicate effectively and enjoy working with the elderly.
- Tolerance for prolonged standing and walking.
