About the role
At HealthBar, our school nurses build meaningful relationships, have the time to deliver thoughtful care, and receive ongoing support from an experienced clinical leadership team. School nursing is different from almost every other nursing role, offering predictable daytime hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and summers off.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for a student throughout the school day
- Perform tracheostomy care and monitor the student's respiratory status
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Absess and respond to illness, injuries, or medical emergencies during the school day
- Maintain accurate health records and document care provided
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, therapists, and families to support the student's health and educational goals
- Serve as a health resource for school staff and assist with health-related needs as appropriate
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Michigan Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- Experience with tracheostomy care preferred
- Experience working with pediatric patients or school-aged children preferred
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school staff and families
- BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) within 90 days of hire

Pay
$44,000 - $50,000 annually
Schedule
4 days per week, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, approximately 32 hours per week
Additional Information
- Rotating four-day workweek with Wednesdays and Fridays alternating as the scheduled day off each week
- Summer off
- Evens, weekends, and holidays off
