Job Description
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up-to-date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies, and medical diagnoses.
- Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record.
- Maintain the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff.
- Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
- Escort patients to exam rooms.
- Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets.
- Assist physician with exams and/or procedures.
- Prepare and administer injections.
- Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens.
- Perform point-of-care lab testing.
- Perform EKGs.
- Affirmatively administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follow the five (5) medication rights to reduce the potential for medical error.
What We Require
- Current NYS LPN license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
- Experience with EMR’s.
- Reliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needs.
