Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care tailored to patient needs under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician’s Assistant, or Physician.
  • Function as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team; may include home visits.
  • Collect and record accurate patient health data; evaluate data to identify patient problems.
  • Implement and document specified nursing interventions.
  • Identify deviations from expected patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to approved, research-based practice standards.
  • Perform and document Point of Care (POC) testing and quality control in accordance with laboratory policies.
  • Maintain and document testing reagents, supplies, and equipment per laboratory procedures.
  • Advocate for patients to preserve autonomy, dignity, and rights.
  • Deliver care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner sensitive to patient diversity.
  • Ensure patients have signed informed consent for indicated procedures.
  • Maintain current licensure, certification, and competencies; provide proof of BLS validation to supervisor.
  • Complete required unit credentialing and annual training/competency validation.
  • Practice within the New York State-defined LPN scope of practice 100% of the time.
  • Acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in your area of practice.
  • Perform other duties as requested or observed by supervisor or manager.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.
  • Current NYS LPN License and registration as a Practical Nurse or a valid interim permit.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. constantly to move objects.
  • Occasional: climbing, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), fit testing.
  • Frequent: balancing, typing/clerical/dexterity, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, walking.
  • Hazards: Occasional burns, chemical, electrical, mechanical, radiation/radiant energy; frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure.
  • Working Conditions: Occasional noise, dust, fumes, gases, mists, odors.
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required.

Pay

Salary is based on qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and industry standards. Pay range: $24.74–$37.10 per hour.
