Duties Summary

Provides a variety of practical nursing care, performs related technical work, and serves as "in charge" or team leader of assigned intermediate care patients in a ward or other patient care unit or a small facility on the evening or night shift. May supervise para-medical assistants and other unlicensed personnel.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Legal Authorization To Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • Licenses: Valid license to practice as a practical nurse in the State of Hawaii.
  • Specialized Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience as a licensed practical nurse, licensed vocational nurse, or registered nurse, in performing a variety of personal care, nursing care and related technical work under the direction of a higher level licensed practical nurse, registered nurse or a licensed physician, and which required the knowledge of and ability to apply practical nursing principles and practices comparable in scope and difficulty to the Level I in State service.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification: Required within the first three months of employment.
  • Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement: Complies with Federal law regarding sexual abuse and sexual harassment.
  • Other Requirements: Subject to drug screening and an intensive background check.
