Summary Statement

This position provides nursing and oversight of residents’ nursing needs during trips, community outings, and in-house activities. Key responsibilities include administering treatments, taking vital signs, pouring and administering medications, giving injections and inoculations, observing and reporting resident behavior and condition, and recording information on patients' charts.

Responsibilities

• Administers treatments as directed.
• Takes and records vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration).
• Pours, administers, charts, and records medications.
• Gives prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and inoculations.
• Observes patient behavior and condition and reports changes to appropriate staff.
• Records information on patients' charts.

Requirements

• License and Experience for Licensed Practical Nurse I

  • Delaware Practical Nurse license, Delaware temporary license, or multi-state compact license.

• Experience for Licensed Practical Nurse II

  • Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
  • At least six months' experience as a Practical Nurse.

• Experience for Licensed Practical Nurse III

  • Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
  • At least eighteen months' experience as a Practical Nurse.

• For Licensed Practical Nurse III: Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
• At least eighteen months' experience as a Practical Nurse.
