Job Duties
- treats pressure sores and other skin wounds
- performs tracheal care (oral and nasal tracheal suctioning)
- changes dressings
- provides breathing treatments
- inserts catheters
- instills and flushes bladder irrigations
- feeds and assists with personal hygiene
- takes and records vital signs
- performs laboratory draws
- observes patients for deviations from normal conditions
- guides and counsels direct care staff
- prepares, administers, and charts medications
- prepares nursing assessment summaries
- implements health care plans
- instructs patients on personal health care
- reviews hospital discharge orders
- assists with patient admission
- participates in nursing care planning
Requirements
- current license to practice as a LPN in Missouri or via the Nurse Licensure Compact
- one or more years of experience as a LPN in a hospital, institution, or health care facility
