Licensed Practical Nurse

The Learning Lamp and its Ignite Education Solutions division combine school-focused services to lift administrative burdens from districts, letting educators concentrate on helping children reach their full potential. This role supports students at Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center.

Schedule

7:50 AM – 2:50 PM (7 hours per day), following the school calendar.

Pay

$25 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care to ill or injured students at GACTC according to standing orders from a supervising physician.
• Document all services in the computer charging software.
• Complete injury/accident reports as needed.
• Order and maintain medical supplies for the nurse’s office.
• Coordinate student medical needs with home-school nurses and GACTC instructors while adhering to confidentiality requirements.
• Attend staff development, faculty meetings, and special events.
• Maintain strict confidentiality.

Requirements

• Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Knowledge of communicable diseases and emergency treatment protocols.
• Ability to lift, bend, kneel, and physically assist students.
• Clearances and training: mandated reporter certification, physical exam, TB test, and drug screening (typically completed within one week).
