Licensed Practical Nurse

Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing assigned health care services to Persons in Our Care. The individual in this position functions as a nursing team member in both infirmary and ambulatory settings. The LPN performs nursing procedures in situations, which require skilled technical care but do not require the direct supervision of the registered nurse.

In highly complex situations, the LPN works under specific direction of the registered nurse. The LPN is responsible for performing duties assigned by the registered nurse including assisting the RN to care for acutely ill patients, assisting in assessment of residents' health needs, making observations, reporting to the RN, and performing related documentation and record management activities.

• 0 Years: $30.01/hour
• 3 Years: $31.74/hour
• 5 Years: $33.45/hour
• 7 Years: $35.16/hour
• 9 Years: $36.88/hour
• 11+ Years: $38.59/hour

Job Details

• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship).
• The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens.
• If you are currently working under contract for a staffing agency at the Department of Corrections, you must have worked at least 720 hours of your contract.
• This position is FLSA Non-Exempt.
• Shifts: (0.75 FTE) Dodge Correctional Institution- Weekends, (1.0 FTE, 0.9 FTE,) Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac, WI - Determined upon hire, (1.0 FTE) Columbia Correctional Institution- Mon-Fri 7:45a-4:30p, (1.0 FTE, 0.6 FTE) Fox Lake Correctional Institution in Fox Lake, WI - Determined upon hire, (1.0 FTE) Oshkosh Correctional Institution in Oshkosh, WI- AM/PM rotating with weekend coverage, (0.6 FTE) Oshkosh Correctional Institution in Oshkosh, WI- 12hr shifts on Saturday/Sunday, (0.9 FTE) Oakhill Correctional Institution – 9hr shifts; hours 8:30a-6p, (1.0 FTE) Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility 7:00am- 3:30pm Monday- Friday; rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Qualified candidates must possess current Wisconsin licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
