Licensed Practical Nurse

About the role

Performs nursing functions to support and enhance the medical role in the treatment of consumers for detoxification.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing assessment of clients requiring detoxification, documents findings and consults with the Nurse Practitioner and/or Medical Director.
• Affirm that all medications and medical treatments are provided as ordered by the Nurse Practitioner and/or Medical Director.
• Verifies client prescriptions as ordered by the client's physician, scheduling clients to see the Nurse Practitioner and/or Medical Director.
• Coordinates and administers medications.
• Serves as a member of the treatment team, providing medical information to the aftercare planning process.
• Records and conducts all prescribed medical interventions.
• Provides first aid and emergency services, as required.
• Refers consumers to appropriate emergency facilities when emergency care exceeds the capabilities of the detoxification center.
• Collaborates with community resources, as indicated by the treatment and aftercare plans.
• Obtains and maintains CPR and First Aid certification.
• Knowledge of medical complications of addiction and their treatment.
• Knowledge of general medical/surgical procedures.

Requirements

• Education: Associates Degree
• Five years of experience in a clinical capacity
• Licensed in the State of Delaware and knowledge of medical and clinical requirements related to substance and behavioral healthcare.
• Computer competence and proficiency required.

• Knowledge of general medical/surgical procedures.
