Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Charge RN and Director of Nursing. The LPN is responsible for delivering safe, compassionate, and effective nursing care while supporting the hospital's mission of providing quality behavioral health services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administer medications accurately and safely according to physician orders.
  • Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the treatment team.
  • Document medications, treatments, and patient care activities accurately and timely.
  • Auxiliary with patient assessments, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding treatment and care plans.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and patient care meetings.
  • Follow infection prevention, safety, and employee health guidelines.
  • Serve as a patient advocate and promote patient dignity and respect.
  • Attend required training, staff meetings, and educational programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing Program.
  • Current, unrestricted Mississippi LPN License.
  • CPR Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • One (1) year of nursing experience preferred.
  • Behavioral health, psychiatric, long-term care, medical-surgical, or acute care experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Basic computer and electronic medical record proficiency.
  • Understanding of medical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Ability to assist with patient care activities and emergency situations.
  • Exposure to healthcare environments that may include bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and cleaning agents.
