Full-time position, Monday–Friday 8 am–4:30 pm with varying early shifts (7 am–3:30 pm). Must travel to all 3 locations. No weekends, on-call, or holidays.
About the role
Join our team in a hands-on clinical role where you’ll work closely with physicians and advanced practice providers to support patients throughout their care. From preparing patients for exams and procedures to assisting with clinical and administrative tasks, you’ll play an important role in creating a smooth, compassionate patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include:
- Checking schedules and organizing patient flow
- Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room
- Assisting patients with walking, transfers, dressing, and preparing for exams
- Collecting patient history and performing screenings per provider guidelines
- Assisting physicians/nurses with various procedures
- Charting and reporting any unusual findings to the NP or PA for further evaluation
- Clerical responsibilities as assigned, which may include:
- Obtaining lab/x-ray reports and hospital notes
- Assisting in preparing patients for procedures, including consents and medical clearances (medication verification, PMP database search, AKA entry)
- Performing and documenting new/6-month follow-up patient reminder calls
- Electronically write prescriptions per physician request; prescriptions must be reviewed and signed by the provider before patient pick-up
- Promote wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician advice/instructions
- Environmental responsibilities as assigned, which may include:
- Setting up instruments and equipment according to practice protocol
- Cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
- Restocking exam/procedure rooms
- Assist with pill counts, pill wastes, UDS order entry and collection, EKGs, DME fittings and dispensing, and scheduling appointments
- Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies
- Organizational responsibilities as assigned, which may include:
- Respecting/promoting patient rights
- Responding appropriately to emergency codes
- Sharing problems relating to patient and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly
- Provide coverage at other locations as needed, including traveling during the workday; must have reliable transportation
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Assist physicians and providers with procedures and treatments, including:
- Patient intake
- Readying patients for procedures
- Preparing sterile fields
- Setting up equipment and drawing medication to providers’ specifications
- Perform bi-monthly inventories on Myobloc/Botox medications, coordinate supplies with patient appointments, and communicate ordering needs to the physician
- Assist physicians when assigned to SODS/NESC, including:
- Setting up computer workstations
- Communicating with staff and patients per physician orders
- Preparing charts and checking in patients
- Electronically writing prescriptions per physician orders
- Scheduling repeat and follow-up appointments
- Ensuring all forms are signed by the physician or appropriate staff
- Preparing documents for billing and distributing paperwork
- Communicate and work closely with office staff via telephone regarding any scheduling issues
- Follow all policies and procedures for SODS/NESC
- Other responsibilities as needed
Requirements
- Unrestricted current LPN license to practice nursing in NYS (required)
- 1–3 years of recent experience (preferred)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records (EMR) (preferred)
- CPR/BLS certification (preferred)
- Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands
- Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
