Licensed Practical Nurse

The Arizona Department of Veterans' Services seeks a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct care services to veterans at the Arizona State Veterans' Home in Flagstaff. This position works 12-hour day shifts (6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) with every other weekend off. Eligible weekend shifts receive supplemental pay at 10% of base pay. This position may be eligible for a $5,000 hiring incentive. Responsibilities include administering medications and performing treatments as ordered by physicians within scope of license, including oral, enteral, parenteral, and suppository medications, as well as wound care, tracheostomy care, gastrostomy care, and catheter care. You will observe and report medication and treatment effectiveness, ensure adequate supplies and medications are available, receive and deliver information regarding residents' medical, social, and functional needs, and participate in shift reports. You will communicate with residents, families, and staff to ensure appropriate interdisciplinary care, complete initial admission nursing assessments, assist with Minimum Data Set assessments and care plan development, and supervise subordinate staff with Activities of Daily Living assistance. Additional duties include conducting in-service training and staff development, attending staff meetings, collecting and analyzing data for quality improvement and infection control programs, training new employees, and responding to emergency situations.
