Licensed Practical Nurse

Typical Functions

• Performs nursing procedures or specialized functions in accordance with knowledge, skills, and licensure.
• Participates in the evaluation of responses to interventions.
• Assists in assessing, reporting, and recording health status of patients in a variety of settings.
• Participates in developing and implementing appropriate aspects of a plan of care.
• Administers medications as ordered.
• Reports appropriate patient information to supervisor or appropriate health team member.

Requirements

All health care staff shall be required to complete the ODOC online training prior to coming to the facility. The time spent in the training session will not be billable to the ODOC. The ODOC online training provides required in-service training documents for temp medical suppliers to work at any ODOC facility. The online training is 16 modules, and a link will be provided for registrations to awarded suppliers. Documentation of completed training shall be provided to the facility Nurse Manager prior to assignment of a temporary health care personnel.

Education And Experience

• Level I: Education and Experience requirements consist of possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or, Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Level II: Education and Experience requirements consist of possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing plus one year of practical nursing experience; or Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) plus one year of practical nursing experience.

Special Requirements

Some positions may require that applicants be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with the position. Applicants with the Department of Corrections must be willing and able to work any assigned shift or day of the week.

Duration

6-12 months with option to extend (not to exceed 12 months total)
