About the Role
The LPN Clinic is responsible for providing patient care following established standards and practices. Assists physician, nurse, and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and patient access. Coordinates patient flow, schedules appointments, procedures, tests, and referrals. May serve as a preceptor for clinical staff. Relies on guidelines to accomplish tasks and some experience and judgment to complete job duties. Works under general supervision and may lead or direct the work of others within the scope of practice.
Responsibilities
Technical Tasks
- Triage calls to determine appropriate medical decision-making (e.g., divert to Emergency Department, STEP IN clinic, or PCP).
- Demonstrate competency and accuracy in all work tasks.
- Courteously answer telephone, properly route calls, and chart appropriately in EMR, including information given and received. Take complete and accurate messages as required.
- Assess the medical and nursing care rendered by self and others within the practice, identifying areas for improvement and communicating this information to superiors.
- Use appropriate triage protocols via EMR to guide patient care in conformance with all policies and procedures.
- Take responsibility for improving technical skills, critical thinking, and interpersonal relationship skills as needed.
- Fill in and assist other office staff members during their absence or work overloads.

- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all nursing duties scheduled during the shift without compromising quality.
- Use interpersonal or communication skills to achieve desired patient outcomes, responses, or satisfaction; maintain forthright and honest behavior.
- Utilize appropriate internal and external resources to resolve, meet, or exceed patient and family healthcare needs.
- Assure delivery of quality patient care by identifying problems and assisting in the assessment of patient health status.
- Effectively plan the use of time at work, set priorities, assist others as necessary, and creatively use extra time.
- Inspire confidence from patients, visitors, and families through courteous and professional communication.
- Demonstrate knowledge of corporate policies regarding fire and safety, handling hazardous materials (if applicable), and infection control.
- Clearly explain therapy, tests, and treatments to patients and, if necessary, their family members.
- Consistently assess situations, consider alternatives, and choose an appropriate course of action, exhibiting good problem-solving skills.
Interpersonal Relations
- Accept the mission and values of the organization and participate in assigned committees, implement planned changes, and report suggestions for improvement to leadership.
- Assist in maintaining the office as a comfortable, orderly, safe, clean, and private patient care environment.
- Participate in the orientation of new personnel to the office as required.
- Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperation with other office staff members.
- Greet patients, family members, and visitors in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner, responding with empathy and positive feedback.
Other Duties
- Willing to take on other responsibilities as needed by the organization.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
- Current Louisiana License as an LPN and BLS Certification.
