About the Role

This position provides quality resident care to enable residents to achieve and maintain the maximum level of functional ability while fostering positive interactions within the facility. The role reports to the Rehabilitation Director and Physical Therapist. Job duties may vary depending on the size of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Complies with ethical, regulatory, procedural, and professional standards and practice guidelines as defined by state licensure.
• Assists the Physical Therapist (PT) in providing treatments to residents as determined by the Plan of Care.
• Manages caseload with supervisor by scheduling treatments individually or in groups while maintaining efficiency expectations.
• Instructs residents, families, and caregivers in physical therapy to be continued upon discharge.
• Adheres to PPS guidelines; ensures all PT documentation and treatment conform to documentation and billing policies and procedures.
• Works with the PT to provide oversight and direction of techs and assists in the supervision and education of affiliating students.
• Assists in maintaining a sanitary, orderly, and hazard-free physical environment and equipment.
• Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy, treating residents with kindness and respect.
• Knows and complies with the Residents’ Bill of Rights; reports grievances, complaints, and incidents involving rehab staff immediately.
• Maintains professional competence and stays updated on creative trends in PT treatment through continuing education, seminars, and training programs.
• Attends all mandatory in-services.

Requirements

• Graduate of an APTA-accredited PTA school and eligible for licensure in the state of practice.
• New graduates are welcome to apply.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds; moving, lifting, or transferring patients may involve lifting up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Fine motor skills and visual acuity (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
• Regularly required to stand, talk, or hear; frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach forward with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The physical demand rating for this position is classified as Heavy, requiring exertion of 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 to 50 pounds frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
