About the Role
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides direct rehabilitation care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist in skilled nursing facilities. They assist patients with long-term and short-term recovery, helping improve functional abilities and quality of life within a patient-centered environment.
Responsibilities
- Follow prescribed physical therapy treatment plans
- Chart patient progress accurately and timely
- Utilize therapy software effectively
- Provide excellent patient customer service with a positive attitude
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
- Ensure safety protocols and patient rights are upheld
- Participate in community health initiatives as appropriate
- Assist in patient evacuation when necessary
- Implement and monitor therapy plans
- Maintain documentation
- Demonstrate dependability
- Uphold safety and patient rights
Requirements & Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program (ASPT)
- Active licensure or registration in the relevant state
- CPR certification (obtained upon hire or during orientation)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
- Strong communication, judgment, and body mechanics
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance policies
