Qualifications
- Licensed in the State of Ohio to practice Occupational Therapy
- Teaching license to practice Occupational Therapy in a school setting in State of Ohio
- Desired Experience working as an Occupational Therapist in a public school setting
- Physical stamina to perform the tasks required on the job
Position Description
Provides an occupational therapy evaluation as part of the required multi-factored assessment
Aids in the development of the Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Offers therapy to improve, develop or restore functions impaired or lost through illness, injury or deprivation
Enhances the ability to perform tasks for independent functioning when functions are impaired or lost
Prevents initial impairment or loss of function through early intervention
The services of an Occupational Therapist may include:
- Consulting with the child's parent and school personnel
- Participating in building-level or therapy-specific Professional Learning Communities
- Instructing parents and teachers in the use of techniques and equipment
- Assisting in the provision of specialized and adaptive activities in prevocational and vocational programs
- Collaborating with physical therapy, classroom, and speech therapy schedules
Reports to the building principal and to the Director of Special Education
