About the role

The Vermont Veterans' Home is currently recruiting LNAs to join a compassionate team dedicated to providing best in class care to our Country's Veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star Parents. We are dedicated to providing a professional and fun environment where staff may thrive and grow all while giving back to our Nations Heroes. Our staff provide person-centered, trauma informed care to residents with a wide range of physical and psychiatric disorders. This position involves patient care and treatment work at the aide level in a long-term care setting, working an assigned shift. Work assignments are performed under the direction of a Licensed Practical Nurse and/or Registered Nurse. In-service training courses are required and staff are encouraged to pursue continuing education.

Schedule

  • Current openings are on the evening shift, which is 2:00pm to 10:30pm
  • Shift differentials apply to evening and weekend hours
  • This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week
  • Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels per regulation and is a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime as required is considered an essential function of this job class

Pay

Requirements

  • Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Vermont Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA). Must maintain licensure as a condition of employment
  • Any person who has had a charge of abuse, neglect or exploitation substantiated against them is not eligible under the Vermont Veterans' Home licensing requirements
  • Candidates, including current State employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, or persons exercising re-employment rights, must pass a fingerprint supported background investigation applicable to the position
  • In accordance with Federal and State regulatory standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, Office of Inspector General exclusion database checks, motor vehicle driving record checks, and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates
  • Hiring managers will notify applicants who are in the final stage of the interview process of the fingerprinting and background check requirements, to which an applicant must agree to be deemed eligible for this position. Applicants will have the right to withdraw their applications before fingerprinting and/or a background investigation is conducted

Environmental factors

  • Duties are performed in a long-term care and residential care setting
  • Incumbents may be assigned to any area of the facility and to any shift
  • Requires standing for long periods of time, walking for extended periods and distances, sitting, repetitive movements, bending, twisting, stretching, lifting, pushing, and pulling
