Licensed Mental Health Therapist for CMH embedded in Marshall School of Business / Clinical Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences (Clinician Educator)

About the role

The Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking a licensed mental health therapist to serve USC students in Counseling and Mental Health. We are specifically recruiting a therapist to be embedded in the USC Marshall School of Business and to serve its undergraduate students with robust mental health programming, outreach, and clinical support.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based, trauma-informed, and multiculturally-affirming psychological interventions to USC students, including individual treatment, group therapy, routine and urgent intake, triage, case consultation, third party consultation, and after-hours coverage.
• Serve as a supervisor for interns and practicum students, presenting didactic training in seminars for social work, marriage & family therapy, and psychology practicum interns on theories, interventions, or diagnoses.
• Provide psycho-educational workshops to USC faculty, staff, and students.
• Establish and maintain service presence within the Marshall School of Business, assessing and addressing stigma and barriers to seeking services, and collaborating with administration, faculty, and staff within the academic unit to meet clinical and programmatic needs of students.
• Collaborate with the Counseling and Mental Health Services to provide mental health services to students, including individual and group counseling, assessment and referral, crisis intervention, case management, biofeedback, psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-up, consultation, outreach and prevention, and training and supervision.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Counseling, or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology
• Licensed in the state of California
• Experience in short term treatment, including brief psychotherapy, stabilization and referral of serious mental illness, and crisis intervention
• Multicultural competency in working with students of color, students from all economic classes, first generation students, LGBTQ students, and international students
• Self-aware and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Experience in college counseling centers, with transitional age youth, and/or with students pursuing degrees in business
• Strong diagnostic skills and knowledge of DSM5
• Experience working with issues encountered in early and emerging adulthood, including identity issues, sexual trauma, eating disorders, and substance use disorders
• Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and skills in group process work and training
• Experience and commitment to working with minoritized individuals
• Commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice and to professional integrity
• Desire to continue to grow as a professional and committed to excellence and lifelong learning

Compensation is competitive and contingent on experience.
