Licensed Mental Health Professional LCSW
About the role
The Licensed Mental Health Provider will deliver mental health services to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, including assessments, therapy, and treatment planning for individuals with mental health disorders. This role will ensure the delivery of evidence-based care, maintain accurate patient records, and collaborate with medical and clinical staff to provide comprehensive patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments through interviews, case history reviews, and observational techniques to determine treatment focus and therapeutic approach.
- Provide crisis management and short-term, solution-focused therapy as needed, including therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services.
- Utilize DSM-5 criteria to evaluate and apply appropriate interventions for patients.
- Develop and initiate interdisciplinary treatment plans; participate in ongoing treatment planning and case management.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff, mental health professionals, and correctional staff to coordinate patient care and treatment.
- Consult with other professionals regarding therapeutic approaches and treatment adjustments.
- Document patient activities, treatment progress, and any changes in care plans.
- Conduct follow-up evaluations to assess the effectiveness of interventions and make adjustments as necessary.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, professional standards, and all federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with continuous quality improvement, safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
- Follow MEDIKO's Standards of Professional Conduct.
- Respond to requests from correctional staff and MEDIKO staff in accordance with facility guidelines and conduct standards.
- Follow the facility's rules, regulations, and chain of command while working within the detention/correctional environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
A current, valid state(s) licensure, certificate and/or credentials documenting ability to practice as an LCSW in the State of North Carolina. 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional healthcare or similar environment, is helpful. Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment is preferred. Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the correctional setting is an advantage. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, adhere to protocols, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced, structured environment. Must hold active CPR/BLS certificate required prior to start date (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).

Weekend Rotations Are Required In This Position.
