As an LMHC at SBPC, you will:

• Manage a case load of individuals with complex mental health diagnoses.
• Conduct immediate assessments, de-escalation techniques, and stabilization strategies to individuals experiencing acute distress.
• Participate in treatment team meetings to help develop care management plans.
• Advocate and provide connections to the services needed.

About the Role

South Beach Psychiatric Center (SBPC) is an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility that recruits a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to provide case management to individuals with severe mental illness and become a member of SBPC’s Crisis Response Team (CRT).

The CRT team responds to urgent mental health crises within the facility with the goal of preventing escalation or restrictive interventions. The shift schedule is 10:00AM – 6:00PM or 11:00AM – 7:00PM, and 1 weekend a month.

Requirements

Candidates from outside or within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor if they have a license and current registration as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State. OR Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Licensed Mental Health Counselor eligible list. OR Candidates from within State Service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have a license and current registration as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State.
