Licensed Mechanic - HVAC

Quinnipiac University's Facilities Department is seeking a Licensed HVAC Mechanic to perform highly skilled maintenance on university buildings, property, and related facilities under the direction of a designated supervisor.

About the Department

The Quinnipiac Facilities Department oversees the physical plant operations of the university, including custodial services, grounds keeping, mechanical systems, and general building repairs. The department employs approximately 170 unionized staff across three campuses spanning over 750 acres and 3.1 million square feet. The team is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the university’s environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair heating and plumbing fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
• Connect equipment using necessary tools and devices.
• Install pneumatic controls and distribution equipment, including relays and related components.
• Ensure HVAC installations comply with state and local codes.
• Maintain and operate heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment, control systems, pumps, generators, life safety systems (fire, lighting, sprinklers), motorized equipment (gasoline and electric), outdoor lighting, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate trucks and perform related skilled work as required.
• Respond to emergency situations as part of an on-call rotation.
• Remove snow during regularly scheduled shifts (no overtime for snow-related duties).

Requirements

• State of Connecticut Heating and Cooling Journeyman or Contractor’s license (S or D Classification) is required.
• The employer will provide release time and cover all costs for license re-certifications.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $45.31.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM.
