Position Summary
JMT is seeking an experienced Licensed Land Surveyor - Survey/SUE Project Manager. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing surveying work to determine precise location and measurements for various projects. The position also includes promoting safety, evaluating staff performance, and representing the company in client meetings.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Affords supervisory responsibility and advises and consults on surveying functions and personnel management
- Coordinates surveying work with engineering, right-of-way, and utility coordination personnel, clients, and other relevant parties
- Determines project scope, job objectives, and budget allocations in collaboration with other project managers and supervisors
- Maintains relationships and liaisons with internal and external stakeholders regarding technical matters
- Researches and gathers data from various sources to support surveying efforts
- Develops and coordinates surveying projects for unique or controversial issues affecting major projects
- Analyzes survey objectives and specifications to prepare proposals or direct others in proposal preparation
- Schedules, assigns, and directs surveying projects within the firm
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys
- Trains and directs the work of assistants and helpers in surveying activities
- Develops criteria for survey methods and procedures

Required Skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of survey plan preparation using tools like Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and familiarity with Federal, State, and local surveying regulations
- Successfully completed and passed JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
- Valid Driver’s License Required
- Able to pass background check
Required Experience
- Professional Registered Land Surveyor in South Carolina
- A working knowledge of Federal, State, and local jurisdiction surveying regulations
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with subface utility designating and locating
- Familiarity with SCDOT
- Familiarity with aerial mapping, LiDAR scanning, and sUAS
Working Conditions
- General office environment 80% of the time
- Occasional field work required, including exposure to varying weather conditions
- Lifting up to 25 lbs may be required as needed
