The Journeyman Electrician will work on job sites primarily in Sacramento, CA, and surrounding cities. Some travel is required for the role.
About the role
- Supports a wide range of Tesla Energy products, including Solar, Supercharger, Semi Charger, and Megapak projects.
- Works on projects ranging from 3 to 7 weeks with a cross-functional team of 4 to 20 members.
- Collaborates with design engineers, project managers, and business developers to push the limits of construction technology.
Responsibilities
- Performs new installations of power distribution, transformers, underground conduit, pad work, switchgear, AC/DC inverters, lighting, and electrical equipment up to 480 VAC and 1000VDC.
- Bends conduit and interprets complex electrical schematics and blueprints to plan work scopes, install requested improvements, troubleshoot, and correct problems.
- Communicates clearly and concisely with the crew, direct supervisor, site superintendent, and clients.
- Displays a positive attitude and practices a good work ethic reflective of Tesla's mission, philosophy, and goals.
- Expresses leadership and initiative when given new projects; works alongside and participates in other trades.
- Completes tasks in a timely manner and provides feedback.
Requirements
- Valid State Certified Electrician License required plus knowledge in safety standards set by NEC, NFPA70E, OSHA safety, and CPR-first aid.
- At least 2 years of electrician journeyperson level or higher experience in industrial, military, or commercial settings.
- Previous electrical trades experience working with power/hand tools, electrical equipment, isolation meters, and multimeters.
- Experience in handling low to high voltage up to 480 VAC and 1000VDC.
- Experience in fiber optic cable terminations, medium voltage, utility scale work, and PV experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to travel to numerous sites daily and travel up to 2 weeks at a time with short notice and flexibility to work on weekends and overtime.
- Compliant government issued identification for domestic air travel and/or to access certain federal facilities.
- Able to use trade tools, meters, technology, and all necessary equipment to complete the job, able to lift and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Able to work at heights including on rooftops, climb ladders, stairs, and perform repetitive duties; including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time while wearing a 25 lbs. tool belt.
- Able to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, crawl spaces, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license required, flexibility to work on weekends and/or overtime along with overnight stays to support Tesla's critical mission.

Pay
- Expected Compensation: $26.98 - $77.58/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits.
- Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
