About the role
Lindblad Expeditions is seeking a Licensed Deckhand to join our team. This position involves operating Zodiacs to transport guests to and from shore, providing them with unique experiences in some of the world's most remote locations.
Responsibilities
- Ship Maintenance: Sweeps decks, washes windows, primes and paints the vessel, assists Engineering, Hotel, and Expeditions departments.
- Boat Operations: Handles lines during docking and undocking, assists with lowering/raising and tying up/ casting off of Zodiacs, assists with loading guests, staff, and crew.
- Safety & Security: Participates in safety training, conducts hourly security patrols, participates in emergency response activities.
- Additional Duties: Loads/off-loads guest luggage, hauls ship's trash, assists in training new deckhands.
Requirements
- Minimum 25 GRT Master License, Valid TWIC, Valid US Passport or Permanent Resident Card, STCW Basic Safety Training (BST), STCW Crowd Management (CM), STCW Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties (VPDSD).
- Experience driving Zodiacs or similar small vessels, mechanical aptitude, good customer service skills, detail-oriented, strong time management, works well under pressure, ability to get along with others.
Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and interest.
- Maritime/boating experience preferred.

- Excellent communication skills.

- Living conditions include compact quarters with minimal personal space, limited internet access, and no port access between expeditions.
- Compensation: $165-$173 base daily rate + $50 guaranteed minimum in gratuities.

Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs.
- Regular lifting and carrying of items up to 50 pounds.
- Continuous work in confined spaces and high-humidity environments.
