Minimum Job Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for the position:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Social Work, Counseling or Human Services field plus licensure as an LPC, LMFT or LCSW.
  • Candidate may be working toward licensure in Counseling or Social Work.
  • Fully licensed salary.
  • Direct professional experience in social, behavioral, or human services.
  • Experience and proficiency using computer software.
  • Must be CST certified within one year of hire date.
  • English/Spanish skills; demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
  • Prioritize experience with mental health, social, behavioral, or human services including diagnostics.
  • Three years of experience working as an LPC.
  • Local resident of Maverick County.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Prior working experience with mental health, social, behavioral, or human services including diagnostics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, and practices of social work/counseling psychology.
  • Skill in interviewing and assessing treatment needs of persons served.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to plan and implement consumer services.
  • May require abilities to supervise the work of others; to interpret program methods and procedures; and to provide guidance to other staff.
  • Ability to work under conditions requiring physical stamina and the ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to work independently, to organize work efficiently, and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professionals, individuals, and groups; exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment when dealing with people; prepare reports and recommendations for administrative use.
  • Knowledge of individual needs/characteristics associated with mental illness.
  • Extensive knowledge of service delivery system and case management delivery system.
  • Ability to develop productive relationships with individuals and family members that focus on individual specific outcomes.
  • Extensive skill in individual needs assessment, developing a treatment plan for the individual and the ability to respond to the changing needs of the individual.
  • Ability to identify problems/gaps in service.
  • Ability to advocate effectively for an individual in the target population.
  • Knowledge of local community resources, how to access those services and use them effectively.
  • Ability to make appropriate referrals and linkages and ability to recognize barriers and coordination issues between service systems.
  • Ability to work in a crisis situation.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of social work and chemical dependency, the functioning of mental health hospitals and/or outpatient mental health clinics and schools.
