Licensed Clinician - (LPC, LMFT)- Arlington, VA

Job Overview

The Licensed Clinician role functions like a private practice without the hassle of managing a back office. Clinicians work a 40‑hour week, spending the majority of time on direct clinical care and the remainder on patient documentation and facility correspondence. The position is on‑site, providing care to residents and their families, and serving as an active, lead member of an interdisciplinary team of physicians and nurse practitioners to address emotional, social, and psychological needs. Clinicians control their own caseload, schedule, and compensation while providing initial assessments, psychotherapy, and ongoing support, and maintaining all documentation requirements, including Medicare and commercial insurance plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial assessments and utilize psychotherapy to address mental health issues.
• Offer ongoing support to residents and their families.
• Complete all required documentation and stay current on Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and other MPAC providers.
• Communicate effectively with facility staff, regional clinical managers, patients, and families.
• Manage patient needs, documentation, and caseload with a high level of organization.
• Adapt to the ever‑changing environment of skilled nursing facilities.

Requirements

• Master’s degree and a valid LMFT or LPC license in the state of practice.
• At least two years of counseling and therapy experience.
• Entrepreneurial spirit combined with strong medical knowledge and understanding of CMS, Medicare, and Medicaid documentation.
• Experience in nursing home, skilled nursing facility, or hospital settings.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mental health diagnoses and therapeutic approaches.
• Ability to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams and foster open communication.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage documentation and patient needs efficiently.
• Comfort with a dynamic, changing environment and the ability to take initiative.
• Passion for working with older adults.
• Knowledge of Medicare benefits and commercial insurance plans.
• Experience in the healthcare setting; nursing‑home experience is a plus.
