Saulsbury Industries is seeking a licensed Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, and repair a variety of electrical equipment in Midland, TX.
About the role
The Electrician troubleshoots equipment to determine proper methods and materials for maintenance and repair, follows safety procedures, and coordinates with operations personnel regarding permits and clearances. Under general supervision, you will work on power distribution substations, computer and coaxial communication circuits, fiber optics, instrumentation systems, fire alarm circuits, and lighting circuits. You will also provide basic instruction to supervised employees and supply your own basic hand tools.
Responsibilities
- Determine methods and materials needed for maintenance, repair, or construction.
- Perform lock-out and tag-out procedures to secure switch gear and deactivate equipment.
- Dismantle equipment or devices to access and remove defective parts.
- Troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain equipment using test equipment such as ammeters, voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
- Make emergency electrical repairs, troubleshoot malfunctions, and inspect work for defects or hazards.
- Work with conduits, fittings, cables, insulators, and other electrical equipment.
- Read and work from electrical schematics, plans, and specifications.
- Remove and replace operating equipment.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks involving manual material handling, hand tools, and power tools.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas.
- Complete paperwork documenting repair and maintenance activities.
- Communicate with personnel regarding maintenance initiation.
- Terminate controls and power cables, and install conduit.
- Assign suitable tasks to helpers.
- Follow additional safety policies and procedures in operating facilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Four (4) years of experience in the heavy industrial industry.
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code and basic safety practices.
- State Journeyman Electrician License.
Safety Requirements
- Promote awareness of environmental, health, and safety policies.
- Pass a drug test as mandated by Saulsbury Industries and the Department of Transportation anti-drug program.
- Complete Saulsbury Industries safety training education.
- Attend safety meetings and specialty training as directed by management.
- Attend various training classes as assigned by management.
- Take necessary safety precautions in performing work.
- Wear Fire Resistant Clothing (FRC).
Physical Requirements
- Manual and finger dexterity.
- Eye-hand coordination and depth perception.
- Far visual acuity to see things clearly beyond arm’s reach.
- Ability to see small details.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work at heights above 20 feet (including aerial lifts).
- Climb 30-foot ladders without resting.
- Maintain balance on catwalks and narrow workspaces.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Reach above the head and below the knees while standing.
- Stoop or kneel.
- Work overtime each week.
