License Advisory Lead - SAP

About the role

As License Advisory Lead - SAP, you will lead complex SAP licensing advisory engagements and help grow SoftwareOne’s SAP License Advisory practice across North America. You will work closely with regional and global SAP licensing experts, sales, customer success, solution specialists, delivery managers, consulting teams, and practice leadership. As a trusted advisor, you will guide customers on SAP compliance, optimization, contracts, audits, indirect access, S/4HANA transitions, and cloud or subscription licensing.

This is a hands-on lead role where you will combine advisory delivery, stakeholder management, practice development, and business development support to help customers reduce licensing risk, improve commercial outcomes, and maximize the value of their SAP investments.

Responsibilities

• Lead SAP License Advisory engagements across the customer lifecycle, including license reviews, audit defense, contract analysis, indirect access, S/4HANA transitions, and cloud or subscription licensing.
• Provide expert guidance on SAP licensing policies, contractual obligations, compliance risks, optimization opportunities, and defensible licensing positions.
• Present findings, risk assessments, and recommendations clearly to customer stakeholders, including executive audiences.
• Partner with sales, solution specialists, customer success, and practice leadership to identify opportunities, shape proposals, support SOWs, estimate effort, and contribute to SAP advisory growth objectives.
• Develop and improve SAP advisory methodologies, templates, best practices, and quality standards to strengthen delivery consistency and scalability.
• Monitor SAP licensing developments and create internal or external enablement content such as workshops, webinars, whitepapers, blogs, and conference presentations.
• Collaborate with global SAP advisory experts and mentor consultants by sharing knowledge, reviewing deliverables, and supporting successful project execution.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in SAP licensing, software asset management, IT asset management, software compliance, or related consulting disciplines.
• Strong understanding of SAP licensing models and topics, including Named User licensing, Digital Access and indirect access, contract interpretation, audit and compliance processes, S/4HANA, and SAP cloud or subscription licensing.
• Experience leading customer-facing advisory engagements and developing clear, commercially relevant recommendations.
• Ability to explain complex licensing concepts to executive, commercial, technical, and non-technical audiences.
• Strong consulting, communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills across business functions and regions.
• Experience contributing to practice growth, service development, or business development activities in a consulting or advisory environment.

Additional Qualifications

• Background with a software publisher, consulting organization, SAM provider, or large enterprise with significant SAP investments.
• Experience supporting SAP contract negotiations, commercial discussions, SAP measurement tools, or license administration processes.
• Familiarity with software asset management platforms such as Flexera, ServiceNow, Snow, or comparable solutions.
• Experience representing expertise through industry events, webinars, conferences, or thought leadership content.
