Florida A&M University Libraries is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Library Technical Assistant Supervisor position.

About the Role

The successful candidate will coordinate and conduct daily operations to ensure that all interlibrary loan and resource sharing requests are processed and delivered promptly. They will follow policies, guidelines, and best practices for both borrowing and lending, solve complex problems related to systems and workflows within interlibrary loan and across library resource sharing units, supervise support staff, OPS staff, and work study students, and work to develop unit goals based on current best practices for resource sharing. The candidate will also communicate unit goals to support staff and devise implementation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct daily operations to ensure that all interlibrary loan and resource sharing requests are processed and delivered promptly.
  • Follow policies, guidelines, and best practices for both borrowing and lending.
  • Solve complex problems related to systems and workflows within interlibrary loan and across library resource sharing units.
  • Supervise support staff, OPS staff, and work study students.
  • Work to develop unit goals based on current best practices for resource sharing and communicate unit goals to support staff.
  • Devise implementation strategies.
  • Provide coverage at the Information Commons Desk to provide reference services to students.
  • Provide public service desk coverage at branch locations, on an as needed basis.
  • Gather statistics and provide summary reports on interlibrary loan activities.
  • Participate in state-wide committees related to resource sharing to coordinate services across campus units, and other academic libraries for UBorrow and interlibrary loan.
  • Promote interlibrary loan and UBorrow to students and faculty.
  • Maintain the accuracy of information on the interlibrary loan and UBorrow web pages.
  • Serve on department and library committees as appointed, to enable and support the accomplishment of library goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalency and five years of related experience.
  • Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute on an equivalent basis for the required experience.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related work experience are preferred.

Pay

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.

This position generally works Monday to Friday. This position works a rotating schedule on Saturdays, when classes are in session for fall, spring, and summer sessions. This position may be required to work on Sunday, two to three times per month.
