About the Role

This position is located at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison (SATF) in Corcoran, CA. The Library Technical Assistant (Safety) plays a pivotal role in reintegrating individuals into society by providing instruction and imaginative escape through literacy.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program (PLP 2025) requires each full-time employee to receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries listed do not reflect this change.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Book acquisition, cataloging, and reference services
  • Compilation of bibliographies
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships within the department, other governmental agencies, health care partners, and communities

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible subprofessional library experience, including work in book acquisition, cataloging, reference, and compilation of bibliographies.
  • Education: Equivalent to completion of the requirements for an Associate of Arts Degree in Library Science.

Candidates with foreign degrees/transcripts must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency from a NACES-approved credential evaluation service.

New hires are required to submit to a background investigation, including Live Scan fingerprinting and tuberculosis testing prior to appointment, with annual tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Pay

Monthly salary range: $3,989.00 - $4,992.00. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.

Permanent, full-time position. Work location is in-office at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison (SATF) in Corcoran, CA.
