Job Description

The Library/Media Specialist (All Grade Levels) is responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of library media programs that support student learning across all grade levels. This position works closely with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to ensure that students have access to appropriate resources and services.

About the Role

This role supports the mission of the division by fostering a culture of literacy and promoting effective use of technology in the classroom. The Library/Media Specialist collaborates with faculty to integrate library media resources into curriculum planning and instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement library media programs that align with district goals and standards.
  • Collaborate with teachers to select, organize, and maintain library materials and digital resources.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for staff on the use of library media resources and technologies.
  • Facilitate the integration of library media resources into classroom instruction.
  • Maintain updated records and reports related to library media programs.
  • Assist in the management of the library budget and procurement of materials.
  • Participate in professional organizations and attend conferences to stay current with best practices in library media.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
  • At least three years of experience in a library/media setting.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in library media education.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with library management software.
