Cordova Villa Elementary School is a Title I school in Rancho Cordova serving approximately 500 students from preschool to fifth grade. Our diverse community represents many cultures and languages. We embrace PBIS and restorative practices, use the PLC model to guide teaching, and actively engage families to strengthen school-home partnerships and student success. About the role

Under direct supervision of the Principal, this position performs routine clerical and typing duties in an elementary school library. You will assist students and teachers in using the library and computer lab, including mobile devices. Under general supervision of a classroom teacher, you will help provide specialized instruction, supervise classroom activities in the computer lab or library, and perform related tasks. While you may reinforce lessons initiated by the teacher, you will not assign grades or disclose pupil information to unauthorized individuals.

Schedule

  • 9.5-month work year
  • 30 hours per week
  • Daily schedule: 7:55 am to 2:45 pm (Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri); 7:55 am to 1:15 pm (Thursdays), subject to change

Pay

$20.85 to $25.33 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine clerical and typing duties in an elementary school library
  • Assist students and teachers in using the library, computer lab, and mobile devices
  • Support specialized instruction under the supervision of a classroom teacher
  • Supervise classroom activities in the computer lab or library
  • Reinforce lessons initiated or prescribed by the teacher (without assigning grades)

Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (relevant computer education classes are desirable)
  • Successful completion of the District Instructional Assistant Proficiency Test
  • Successful completion of the District Computer Competency Test
  • School library experience is desirable
  • Computer experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures, library organization, and personal computers (including circulation programs, internet, and word processing)

Qualifications

Upon conditional offer of employment, the following will be required:

  • DOJ and FBI criminal background check
  • TB test within the last 60 days (per Education Code 49406, Assembly Bill 1667)
  • Completion of district-mandated training (e.g., Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment)

Physical demands

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling
  • Some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and touching
  • Manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during meetings, at a desk, or in various configurations
  • Ability to see and read (with or without visual aids) laws, codes, rules, policies, and computer screens
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone
  • Ability to speak in audible tones for clear communication in conversations
