Minimum starting salary is $16.7903 hourly, depending on qualifications.

The City of Waco seeks the ideal candidate who will provide excellent customer service, pay close attention to detail, and enjoy organizing books using alpha-numeric systems.

Qualifications

Minimum

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• One month of customer service experience

Preferred

• Some college experience
• Public library experience
• Bilingual in Spanish

Responsibilities

• Use library automated system to check materials in/out, process holds, register new borrowers, and collect fines/fees.
• Assist patrons with the use of library equipment, including the copier, fax, online catalog, and public computers.
• Assist patrons with reference and readers’ advisory questions.
• Shelve library materials.
• Assist patrons in locating materials.
• Assist in keeping the library neat and orderly.
• Assist Librarians in the preparations and presentation of programs.
• Assist with the opening and closing procedures of the library.
• May take a lead role in Branch Manager’s absence.
• Follow ALA principles and guidelines as they pertain to censorship and confidentiality.
• Must be able to report to a different location within 30 minutes as needed.

Schedule

Must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends, including Sunday afternoon.
