Library Aide
Job Description
The Library Aide position at Southwest Elementary is responsible for assisting the librarian in managing the library collection, organizing events, and providing support to students and staff.
- Assist with cataloging and organizing books and other materials.
- Help students check out and return books, and assist with fines and overdue notices.
- Oversee the library’s technology resources and ensure their proper use.
- Organize and lead library events such as book clubs and author visits.
- Support the librarian in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all users.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and preferably some college coursework in library science or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
Experience working in a library setting is preferred but not required. Previous experience with children is a plus.
Skills
Proficiency in using library management software is helpful but not necessary. Strong customer service skills are essential.

The Library Aide position offers a competitive hourly wage of $15.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Employees also receive health insurance benefits after 90 days of employment.
