A Librarian Supervisor position is available at the Fort Worth Public Library at the Summerglen Library. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, enthusiastic about bringing library services to people in the community, and comfortable working with diverse populations including people of all ages, backgrounds, dispositions, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct the day-to-day operations and staff of a branch library to ensure efficient and effective public service
  • Provide excellent customer service, including answering questions and helping customers locate materials and services of interest
  • Interpret policy and procedures and resolve daily operational and customer issues
  • Ensure that the location is well-ordered, appealing, and inviting; manage the location’s overall collection, including promotion, maintenance, and weeding
  • Supervise staff, including planning and assigning work, performance management, scheduling, addressing complaints and resolving problems; train staff on basic job functions
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate local outreach programs and services in conjunction with staff
  • Evaluate/assess Library standards and services at location
  • Assist customers with basic computer needs and emerging technologies

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in library and information sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration, Sociology, Human Relations or a closely related field
  • Three (3) years of professional library experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of management principles and practices including goal setting, budget development/implementation, and staff development and motivation
  • Knowledge of modern professional library principles, practices, and procedures
  • Skill in using exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills that build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external customers
  • Skill in hiring, motivating, developing, and directing staff in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work at/travel to various locations
  • Ability to communicate with customers in Spanish

Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

Pay

Pay Range: $34.45 - $44.79/hr. | $71,661 - $93,159 annual compensation
