LIBERTY RECREATION ASSISTANT

This position is assigned to the Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) Morale, Welfare and Recreation Branch (MWR); Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) at CNRSE Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport N922. The incumbent serves as a conduit of information and advocate for the MWR department with a focus on Single Sailor Liberty Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Represents and serves as an advocate and educator for the installation MWR Program, focusing on Junior Sailor recreational programming.
  • Assists with the development of installation Single Sailor Liberty programming by collecting information, offering insight, generating initiatives targeting the Junior Sailor population, and gathering feedback on desired programs, accessibility, and availability.
  • Manages the feedback process for program initiatives and improvements through daily one-on-one service member interactions and discussions.
  • Conducts administration of customer feedback surveys and provides comprehensive reporting on results as required.
  • Assists with the development of contemporary marketing and engagement strategies, incorporating social media for efficient information dissemination and program feedback.
  • Assists MWR Marketing in creating, developing, and maintaining a strong social media brand presence, including video and photo content.
  • Provides recommendations for improving MWR and Liberty Programs and marketing strategies based on feedback.
  • Distributes promotional and advertising materials and provides specific information on planned events to the Junior Sailor population.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) on needs, preferences, and engagement level of the Junior Sailor population onboard the installation.
  • Promotes current and future MWR Program initiatives to increase Junior Sailor and Liberty-eligible customer engagement, translating to increased program utilization and expansion of healthy physical and social lifestyle activities.
  • Assists MWR point of contact in recruitment and coordination of Liberty Ambassador Advisory Board members.
  • Serves as a member of the MWR Liberty Ambassador Advisory Board.
  • Ability to drive a 15-passenger van.

Requirements

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successfully complete a background investigation, including fingerprint identification and background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check; any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process requiring two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
  • May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
  • A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
  • Must have salary sent to a financial institution of choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days: C.A.R.E (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively), Emergency First Responder (EFR) or CPR First Aid, or NASBLA Safe Boating certificate, or equivalent.
  • Required to sit, walk, stand for long periods, bend, and lift moderate to heavy items up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties. Specialized experience must demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of Liberty center activities for individuals and groups of varying demographics, ages, and interests.
  • Basic computer operations and keyboarding skills, including desktop computer use.
  • Knowledge of MWR department elements to answer customer questions or refer them appropriately.
  • Understanding of business, military, and government protocol; safety and security in written and verbal correspondence.
  • Knowledge of contemporary social media methods and platforms for communication.
  • Knowledge of CNIC's organizational structure, functions, and mission.
  • Skills in reading comprehension to adhere to published rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and technically sound reports related to program work.
  • Ability to apply basic customer service delivery methods to identify needs, deliver expected service, and resolve routine issues.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations and/or training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part-time work. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs.

Education

Required: 6 months or more of general experience AND 6 months or more of specialized experience OR successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in courses related to recreation (e.g., basic psychology, group dynamics, physical education, arts and crafts, etc.) OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience as described above.

Additional Information

  • Position is non-critical, sensitive, requiring access to IT II system and/or access to PII. An Access National Agency Check Investigation (ANACI) is required via the SF 86 security form.
  • Required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually.
  • Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
  • For positions requiring travel more than twice per year, selectee may be required to obtain and maintain a Government-issued Travel Card.
