About the role
This Liaison Engineer will be providing engineering support to resolve engineering issues that arise during manufacturing and assembly processes, quality inspection and acceptance tests, through the application of engineering and design principles, consulting the engineering development teams as needed.
Responsibilities
- Review and disposition non-conformance events of the spacecraft and its ground support equipment that may occur in all phases of the Leo operations: procurement, storage, handling, manufacturing, assembly, testing, transportation, final integration, launch and orbital operations
- Develop standard repairs, rework procedures, propose design for manufacturing (DFM) improvements, improved processes and work instructions
- Conduct root cause investigations and develop corrective actions
- Document static, dynamic and fatigue stress analyses when needed to support dispositions, interpreting established structural analysis reports
- Develop analysis methods to address common non-conformances
- Work with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering experts to provide root cause failure analyses
- Interact with internal customers, external customers, and suppliers
Requirements
- 3+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a Liaison Engineer / Material Review Board (MRB) role with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures
Qualifications
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
- Strong fundamentals in engineering fundamentals (statics, dynamics, modal, frequency response, random vibration, sine and acoustic analyses/tests)
- Experience with fatigue and fracture analyses
- Familiarity with spacecraft technology and related primary, secondary and tertiary structures
- Strong understanding or Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
- Strong understanding of ANSI Y14.5M-1994 (drawing interpretation)
- Experience with Siemens Products (Teamcenter, NX, NX Nastran)
Skills
- Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) in aerospace programs
- Ability to understand the balance between engineering judgment versus analysis rigor and when each is appropriate

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $117,300.00 - $160,000.00 annually.
Schedule
This position will work 1st shift, Wednesday-Saturday 6am - 4:30pm, 4 days a week.
