Job Summary

The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards and policies. They are expected to uphold organizational policies and demonstrate leadership, accountability, and professionalism.

About the Role

This role requires a minimum of one year of recent (within the last three years) full-time equivalent experience in ED, Critical Care, PACU, and/or another procedural sedation area. Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications are required. Knowledge of procedural sedation agents and reversal agents, as well as a basic arrhythmia course, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a leader of the health care team, delegating tasks appropriately and demonstrating accountability.
• Champions new ideas, leads the change process, and collaborates with other departments to resolve issues.
• Mentors, orients, and coaches others in unit-specific operations and patient care activities.
• Shares responsibility and authority with subordinates and holds them accountable for performance.
• Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
• Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care, ensuring multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education.
• Maintains patient safety by adhering to the five rights, preventing patient falls, decubitus ulcers, and nosocomial infections.
• Ensures optimal pain control and patient comfort, addressing patient anxieties, fears, or concerns.
• Ensures patient safety and understanding of discharge instructions, facilitating outpatient medical management plans.
• Communicates comprehensively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team, discussing patient findings and progress.
• Participates in departmental performance improvement activities, planning, measuring/monitoring, assessing, and improving.
• Adheres to LMP Workplace Safety principles and practices, maintaining a safe environment for self and others.
• Provides courteous, respectful, and compassionate care to patients and their families, ensuring confidentiality and an optimal patient care experience.
• Acts as a resource, preceptor, and mentor to new employees, registry, students, and other team members.
• Attends mandatory meetings, in-services, and staff meetings, actively participates in professional development, and supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment.
• Organizes work to minimize overtime usage and assists in systems improvement.
• Utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources effectively to enhance patient care.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse License (California)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
• Knowledge of procedural sedation agents and reversal agents
• Basic Arrhythmia course
• PALS card may be required based on patient population
• Successful completion of didactic and clinical training program
