This position is located at a client site in Downtown Houston and will facilitate project design and drafting management in accordance with industry and company standards to ensure successful completion of all project-related activities.
Responsibilities
- Assign electrical equipment and instrument tagging numbers
- Assign conduit and cable numbers
- Resolve drawing development issues
- Draft changes to record drawings
- Prepare process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID), general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment and instrument lists for various company plant, pipeline, and related facilities construction projects
- Assist in the development of Project Scopes, Engineering/Design Scopes, and Construction Scopes of Work for use in establishing contracts with third parties
- Attend project meetings to understand customer needs, scope definitions, and provide technical input for efficient and effective designs
- Assist in the review of man-hour estimates and work schedules to ensure project execution efficiency
- Coordinate the distribution of design packages to ensure stakeholder input and information exchange
- Provide design and drafting services for time/budget-critical projects and preliminary development of potential projects
- Communicate with vendors for materials quotes and availability
- Create parts lists by performing material take-offs to ensure timely availability of items
- Develop material data sheets
- Generate material requisitions for submittal to project manager for approval
- Maintain records of documents and correspondence pertaining to technical design issues throughout project development
- Participate in the development and maintenance of Company standard drawings
- Maintain a high level of expertise in design and drafting, ensuring access to specialty resources and technology
- Assist in the development and implementation of specifications and procedures to lower costs in drawing and documentation creation and maintenance
- Coordinate with Project Managers, purchasing agents, inspectors, engineering contractors, and construction contractors on design drawing content, materials, and construction issues
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Engineering on design and logistical issues to ensure effective project progress
- Provide drafting for daily system operations and coordinate with CADD Operators, offering guidance to enhance others' ability to obtain required information
- Travel by air and/or automobile to facility sites as required
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Drafting and Design
- 7 years of Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) design experience
- Active TWIC Card is required
