Essential Functions
The Level II Technician, Splicing, to perform mid-level splicing on a variety of underground, aerial, and ISP projects nationwide. The Splicing Technician has technical knowledge, skills and experience to perform core splicing functions within the telecommunications industry.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Performs mid-level splicing functions for aerial, underground, and ISP cable routing on various projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction prints, drawings, and splice matrixes to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled
- Determine equipment needs, cable route, cable direction, safety best practices, and perform splicing functions within a live customer facility
- Independently and safely performs mid-sheath cable entry using proper tools
- Performs mid-level single and/or ribbon splices with the understanding large cable count numbering
- Read/process test results and problem solve basic issues identified during troubleshooting
- Proficient in mid-level OTDR and power meter testing
- Performs basic cable relocations and hot cuts while maintaining cable organization
- Effectively communicates with internal (training peers) and external stakeholders (customers, subcontractors, etc.), addressing issues as they arise and offering customer-centric solutions
- Responds timely to critical situations and emergency outages with an appropriate level of urgency
- Maintains full understanding of safety risks while working in a safety sensitive position, adhering to all safety requirements and standards
- Performs other duties as assigned by leadership

Experience And Education
- 1-5 years of experience performing fiber optic cable splicing projects
- OSHA 10 certification (or ability to acquire within 6 months)
- First-aid and/or CPR certifications preferred
- Valid driver license with the ability to obtain a DOT medical card
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver License is Required
- Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen
