About the role
Tomah Area School District is seeking an innovative educator who can work collaboratively with colleagues, develop positive relationships with students and parents, and build partnerships with the community. This full-time position at Lemonweir Elementary begins in the 2026-27 school year.
Co-curricular coaching and advisor positions are available.
Responsibilities
- Consult with IEP team members, teachers, and parents to assist in the preparation of an IEP.
- Test and evaluate programs for measuring aptitude, achievement, and interests of students.
- Assist instructional staff in developing or modifying programs to meet the needs of each student.
- Serve students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, communication needs, and/or cognitive, intellectual, and learning disabilities.
- Co-serve with a general education teacher in an inclusive setting.
Requirements
- Strong background in:
- WiMLSS (Wisconsin Multi-Level System of Supports)
- Professional Learning Communities
- Team Teaching
- Universal Design for Learning or inclusive Tier 1 Practices
- Elementary Teacher Literacy Training (Act 20) Documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, with a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of special education programs, processes, and procedures.
- Experience or willingness to learn around serving students with diverse needs.
Qualifications
- Must have, or be eligible for, a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction issued #1830 (Early Childhood Special Education) or #1801 (Cross Categorical Special Education) license.
- Applicants holding a valid regular education DPI teaching certification in any area and interested in pursuing an emergency special education license for this position are encouraged to apply.
