About the role
The purpose-built music school “Johann Nepomuk Hummel” is seeking a part-time Saxophone (Jazz) instructor (m/w/d) starting 1 November 2026. The position is permanent and currently comprises 17 teaching units (including 1 unit of holiday surplus), with the possibility of increasing the load as needed.
Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group lessons across all ages and proficiency levels, including preparation and follow-up
- Lead the wind ensemble and contribute to wind-class teaching
- Organise and conduct class recitals
- Encourage and develop students to participate in competitions such as “Jugend jazzt” and “Jugend musiziert”
- Take part in school events and projects
- Provide pedagogical guidance to students and parents
- Assist in the ongoing development of the Jazz/Rock/Pop department
- Handle related duties: office hours, school conferences, subject-group meetings, parent evenings
- Participate in and teach school projects (wind classes)
- Be willing to teach at the school’s external sites
- Show willingness to pursue further professional development
Requirements
- Completed university degree, preferably in music pedagogy
- Team spirit, friendly demeanour and strong motivation
- Proven experience in individual and group instruction and ensemble leadership
- Confident use of IT
- Desirable: proficiency on clarinet and/or transverse flute
