Legislative Advisor
About the role
Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Legislative Advisor to support Headquarters United States Air Force (HAF/A10). In this role, you will provide comprehensive legislative analysis and support for all DAF/A10 mission areas. This requires actively monitoring and analyzing Congressional activities, perspectives, and trends, and maintaining a repository of official statements to ensure DAF/A10 leadership is prepared for all legislative engagements.
The HAF/A10 contract delivers technical, analytical, operational, programmatic, and planning subject-matter expertise to HAF/A10 and its component divisions to advance national security strategic plans, policies, concepts, and initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site position located at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze legislative and Congressional activities, including researching and analyzing legislative actions, trends, and events.
- Produce a Weekly Legislative Review and Events Schedule, synopses of Congressional Hearings, ad-hoc reports and briefings on legislative trends, and maintain a Congressional Authorization and Appropriations Tracker.
- Maintain a repository of strategic statements and postures, including researching, compiling, and maintaining a consolidated record of all current and historical Air Force statements, postures, and responses to Congressional inquiries related to DAF/A10 mission areas.
- Conduct continuous research and scholarly analysis on emerging issues in strategic deterrence, including policy, strategy, arms control, NC3, CWMD, and related national security topics.
- Provide expert assistance and consultation to devise innovative managerial and organizational solutions for mission challenges arising from emerging deterrence issues.
- Plan, support, and/or conduct forums, workshops, seminars, and conferences on emerging deterrence issues, and produce and deliver all event-related materials.
- Analyze, interpret, and integrate guidance from national strategic documents, and provide expert advice and formal recommendations for consideration in the development of effective DoW, DAF, and USAF policies, procedures, and guidance.
- Review, analyze, and provide direct support to AF/A10 for its participation in major strategic reviews, and provide analysis and support for the development of official Air Force input, positions, and strategy for these national-level planning activities.
- Provide continuous advisory support to AF/A10E on strategic human capital planning, and develop targeted recruitment and retention strategies to secure top-tier civilian talent.
- Advise on critical position descriptions and career progression frameworks, and synthesize complex workforce analytics into high-level briefings, strategic reports, and formal coordination packages.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
- Clearance: Must possess a TS-level clearance with SCI eligibility and maintain it
- Education: Bachelor's degree, with a Master's degree preferred
- Years of Experience: Twelve (12) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, with ten (10) years of experience preferred, to include five (5) years of DoD experience
