Position Summary

The Legal Nurse Trainer at Witherite Law Group supports the firm's medical education efforts, assisting with the development and implementation of clinical models, conducting case audits, and providing ongoing medical education through training programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, deliver, and maintain medical training programs for litigation nurses in one-on-one, small-group, and large-group settings—both virtual and in person.
- Provide ongoing clinical education to team members on injury mechanisms, treatment pathways, medical terminology, and case-related medical issues.
- Assess department training needs and create structured learning plans to enhance medical knowledge and performance.
- Support new-hire onboarding and ensure consistency in skills, workflow understanding, and documentation standards.
- Conduct regular medical assessments with clients to model best practices and ensure consistent training standards.
- Serve as a clinical escalation point for complex or high-risk cases.
- Provide advanced medical expertise and guidance to team members and clients throughout the lifecycle of each case.
- Review and interpret medical records, imaging, and billing records; train nurses on creating accurate and strategic medical timelines.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current research, treatment standards, and clinical practices relevant to personal injury and litigation support.
- Collaborate with attorneys, CCCs, paralegals, and leadership to ensure training aligns with legal strategy and operational goals.
- Participate in case audits to evaluate documentation quality, clinical accuracy, and adherence to internal standards.
- Identify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities for improvement across cases and workflows.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement process improvements, training enhancements, and quality initiatives.
Qualifications
- State Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Medical Records review experience desired
- 5 or more years of medical experience preferred in one or more of the following: Primary Care, Emergency Room/Urgent Care, Orthopedic or Neurology
- Teaching ability: desire to share information directly contributes the success of others
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to translate complex medical information into accessible language
- Advanced ability to teach, mentor, and coach clinical staff
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills on the phone, in person and email
- Advanced Research skills
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications
- Able to maintain a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information
- Superb organizational and time management skills; meticulous attention to detail
- Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
Physical Requirements
- Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
- Stationary Position – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
- Move or Traverse – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc. May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
- Dexterity – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
- Move, Transport, Position, Put, Install, Remove - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
- Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information - The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess - The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
