Legal Counsel - US Government
About the role
The Palantir legal team works closely with the business to proactively address legal issues so that Palantir can continue to drive positive impact across the world. This role is specifically focused on the US government business, where you will work on a wide range of projects that arise at our fast-paced, mission-oriented company.
Responsibilities
- Understand Palantir's relationship with its US government customers and provide advice and counsel in support of Palantir's business goals.
- Draft and negotiate contracts and license agreements.
- Advise on product development issues, compliance, intellectual property rights, data privacy, conflicts of interest, and more.
- Develop and implement strategies to manage and resolve government inquiries.
- Monitor and analyze federal legislative, regulatory, and policy developments relevant to Palantir's government business including AI policy, data governance frameworks, and national security technology regulation.
- Engage with policy processes where Palantir has an interest, including supporting responses to agency rulemaking, coordinating with government affairs colleagues on Capitol Hill engagement, and contributing to external policy positions.
- Exercise initiative and creativity in solving challenges.
Requirements
- J.D. degree and 3+ years of firm, in-house, or government experience (a combination is even better!)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and commitment to working on a team rather than in a silo.
- Demonstrated ability to propose creative solutions to novel issues.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to multitask and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment.
Qualifications
- Passion for cutting edge technology and working on complex public policy challenges.
- Experience with federal policy, government contracting, software licensing, or regulatory compliance — a combination is ideal.
- Familiarity with AI, data, or technology policy debates at the federal level.
- Prior experience in government with exposure to policy development or regulatory processes.
- Active security clearance or eligibility and willingness to obtain a security clearance.
- Strong analytical and writing skills.

Pay
The estimated salary range for this position is estimated to be $170,000 - $240,000/year. Total compensation for this position may also include Restricted Stock units, sign-on bonus and other potential future incentives. Further note that total compensation for this position will be determined by each individual’s relevant qualifications, work experience, skills, and other factors. This estimate excludes the value of any potential sign-on bonus; the value of any benefits offered; and the potential future value of any long-term incentives.

This role is typically based in an office setting, though some flexibility may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
