About the role

Samsung SDS America is seeking a corporate attorney to join our Legal Team. In this role, you will work on a variety of technology transactions while supporting senior attorneys and handling special projects as they arise. You will report directly to the General Counsel, providing a wide array of legal services and guidance. The ideal candidate is a ready-to-learn, self-starting attorney that seeks to build a long-term in-house career in a global technology company, takes a holistic approach to business-oriented problem solving, and embodies high standards of ethics and accountability. High emotional intelligence and intellectual curiosity are key qualities for success in this role. This position is based in our Plano, TX location.

Samsung SDS is the digital arm of the Samsung group and a global provider of cloud and digital transformation innovations, delivering enterprise-grade solutions and services in cloud, secure mobility, analytics/AI, digital marketing, and digital workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate service agreements, statements of work, and other technology and general commercial agreements under the guidance of senior attorneys.
  • Counsel internal business teams on (i) legal issues relating to the development and provision of managed cloud, IT security, email marketing, content management, and consulting services and (ii) U.S., Canadian, and European privacy laws.
  • Provide legal support to various internal departments, including Finance, Marketing, and HR.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters and oversee related filings.
  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks and legal research projects.
  • Prepare reports for HQ's Legal team in Korea as needed.

Requirements

  • JD from an ABA Accredited Law School.
  • Active license to practice law and/or capable of meeting in-house admission requirements in New Jersey.
  • 1+ years of experience as in-house counsel or an associate at a law firm.
  • Strong project management skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to successfully manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with drafting contracts for technology or other commercial transactions.
